TRA seeks opportunities in Connecticut's Transportation Investments

By late 2016, Bay Area commuters will likely begin to see the first of a fleet of futuristic new BART trains barreling from San Francisco through the upper Peninsula, the East Bay and new stations slated to open in the coming years closer to Silicon Valley in Fremont, Milpitas and Northern San Jose.

The State of Connecticut is making major investments in improving its transit system highlighted by two projects; CTfastrak and the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield Rail Program.

The CTfastrak is a Bus Rapid Transit System which will run along a dedicated right of way from New Britain to Hartford. The $600M project commenced in 2012 and is scheduled to open for passenger service in March 2015. Passengers will enjoy a swift 20-minute ride on the dedicated CTfastrak line between downtown Hartford and New Britain, bypassing traffic on I-84 and local streets in this heavily-congested corridor. CTfastrak will provide frequent daily service, operating from early morning until late at night.

The New Haven-Hartford-Springfield Rail Program represents a partnership between the State of Connecticut, Amtrak and the Federal Railroad Administration; as well as the states of Massachusetts and Vermont. The new service will connect with existing Metro-North commuter rail and Amtrak Acela high-speed rail service on the New Haven Line to New York and on the Northeast Corridor to New London and Boston.

TRA plans to provide real estate advisory services to public agencies, corporations and private development wishing to capitalize on transit oriented development opportunities created through the states investment in its transportation system.
